The Muscle cars dominated the early Seventies but then the gas crisis slowed them down and Detroit had to reinvent itself as well as compete with the foreign car invasion. It was a very tumultuous decade and the last of the New Car Introductions in the fall.

The 70's were the turning point in style, muscle, and freedom. It was the last “Grand” decade for automobiles.

The 70s Convertibles only lasted halfway into the decade probably because they were more expensive and air conditioning became more economical to buy. It was easier to cool down the car with AC than put the top down and get roasted in the sun. These are some of the cars I saw and photographed at car shows throughout the years.

Enjoy! Mario.

The 70 Chevelles were always a big hit at the car shows, one of my favorites.

I had a 1970 Chevelle 300 series sedan for a number of years. It was green on green with a 250 six and Turbo Hydro. It could really move with that six. Cheers.

Your 70 Chevelle sounds like a good car George. My Dad had a 71 Chevelle wagon with a 250ci inline 6 engine which he gave to me when I was looking for a second car. It was a great mover and hauler. Cheers!
