I love all the "original" versions of the cars on here. So many sweet choices in 1956 for so many sweet cars. I will forever be partial to the 1956 Chevrolet because I had two of them and have always loved them. The 1956 Ford has always been my favorite Ford and Ford had it nailed with all their car and truck line up in 1956.The 1956 Packard was the last "true" Packard and always my favorite for style and power in the Packard line. GM did a great job right across the board in 1956 as well. All interesting cars here for 1956. Another good one Mario. Cheers.

Thank you for your comments George. 1956 was a very good year for many cars and I too like the "originals".

Mario. by the way if there was only one of these fine 56's I could take home with me. With out any doubt it would be the 1956 Chevrolet Nomad wagon. What a beauty, right down to the color combo of Sierra Gold and Adobe Beige. Cheers.

Yes the 56 Nomad is a beauty and I love the 2 tone paint on that. It's the same color combo my Aunt had in her 56 Bel Air, the picture with me washing her car! My Dad's 59 Chevy wagon had the same 2 tone paint and my Father-In-Laws 55 Pontiac had the same color combo. It was very popular back in the fifties. Cheers!

The year 1956 was a continuation of 1955 with booming car sales of 6,203,027. Although 1956 car sales were 2.1 million less than 1955, it was still a very good year. Americans continued in their buying mood when it came to cars.
Again in 1956 Chevrolet was the most popular car selling 1,567,117 cars to Ford’s 1,408,478. Buick was a distant 3rd selling 572,024 but beating 4th place Plymouth with 571,634.
General Motors was at the top in 1956 selling 3,184,906 cars of the grand total 6,203,027. GM sold more cars in 1956 than all the other car manufacturers combined!
Ford won the coveted Motor Trend Car of the Year award for 1956 and Virgil Exner continued in his 2nd year with the Forward Look of his Chrysler cars. The 1956 DeSoto Fireflite Convertible was the Indy 500 Pace Car
This is my Tribute to the Fabulous 1956 Cars. Enjoy! Mario
