Mario's Oyster Bay NY Car Shows Aug 2023

August Car Shows

We had a Car Show on Tuesdays during the month of August at the Oyster Bay Cruise Night. I went to most of the shows.

Some more Hot Rods showed up as well as Military Jeeps and more Woodies. ’55 Chevies are always welcome and ’69 Camaros. The ’75 Bricklin was a hit with its Gull Wing doors up! The VW Thing showed up again and a professional dragster was a crowd pleaser.

The Bands were rocking all night playing all the oldies and we had a blast. Summer’s ending but I'm looking forward to Fall in Oyster Bay!

At the 3:12 mark on the walk thru there is a green Camaro and that struck a nerve as it was my replacement for my wife's 1968 Cougar XR7 and my 1969 Olds 442. It was a 6 cylinder 3 speed. Dog dish hubcaps, but hey white wall tires. It was the cheapest on the lot as I had to trade both of our cars in to get a new car. My wife was with child and I had to cut down on insurance and repairs and gas and maintenance as we went from 2 paychecks to 1 and didn't even have insurance to pay the hospital or doctor bill for delivery.

That salesman laughed and pointed at me as I drove that fugly Camaro off the lot.

Sometimes you do what you have to do and worry about it later.

Another of Rob's history lessons.

That's a great story Rob and so glad the video brought back some good memories. We do what we have to do for our family and you did what you needed to do at the time. I admire that in you Rob. You're a good person.

Thank you for your comments Rob and personal stories as usual. This is what makes this website precious and I will continue to post pages of interest to stir up our memories as long as I can. Cheers, Mario

Mario, your cruise night event looks like a real happening every week and to have a live band as well. I will take the 1960 Chev Impala, 1961 Chev Impala, 1967 Vette, 1965 Corvair and 1955 Oldsmobile. Pardon my greediness here. Thanks for sharing bud. Cheers.

Thank you George for commenting. Yes a band every week and they really pound out the music. Puts us in the mood! All ages show up every week young and old.

I love all your picks. I'm into the fifties and sixties original stock cars as well, not so much the chopped hot rods. Although I know they take a lot of creativity and skill to build. The pro dragster was a treat to see. It was rolled in on a trailer and the crowd ran to see it.

The #35 1969 Camaro SS396 in Cortez Silver looks like my first new car same color but I had a blue vinyl top. I also had the SS350. I had it 10 years and really miss that Camaro.

Cheers, Mario
