Mario's Oyster Bay Car Show Sep 17, 2024

1961 Chevy Impala

The 16th weekly car show was held Tuesday Sept 17, 2024 on Main Street in our historic town of Oyster Bay, NY founded in the year 1653 by the Quakers.

A great day as the Fall weather starts to arrive with Classic Cars and Hot Rods driving down Main Street for the car show.

A 1961 Chevy Impala Red Convertible that is in showroom condition is my pick for the Cover to this Page. What a Beauty.

The local shops and restaurants were all open and an entertaining Rock Band was playing Oldies into the evening.

Enjoy the show, Mario

Good afternoon, my east coast friend and fine car aficionado. This is an easy-peasy pic. The 63 SPLIT WINDOW WITH FUEL INJECTION. That is a nice addition to any garage or 401 portfolios.

I did like the row of red...... Ford Pick'm Up Trucks....nice way to display.

We had our first in town car show yesterday and sad to say I couldn't attend. I had to go out of town. I had friends report back to me, but they are camera shy, they are shy ABOUT USING their cameras. Furthermore, I can't throw friends under the bus. They are, just as I said, camera shy.

That 61 Impala looks HOT! Yes, I know it's red also. That would be the perfect car for a Candy Striper. And for those of you who do not know who a Candy Striper is, Google is your friend!!

Very well, I've enjoyed the ride and as the sun sets earlier and earlier with each day, let's make the best of the day coming up.

Take care and God bless. Rob

I figured you would go after the 63 Vette Fuelie Rob, great choice. Not many of those around with the optional engine. And he's proud of it looking at his license plate.

The row of red Ford pick ups caught my eye too. Interesting way to display those 50's trucks.

Congrats on your first car show although you couldn't make it. Do you have a weekly show in any particular town or separate shows over many towns?

Hopefully you're getting cooler temps now that it's Fall. I love this cool weather here in NY, in the 50's at night and low 70's daytime.

We only have 1 car show left in Oyster Bay on Tuesday. But maybe I'll find some others before the cold temps arrive. Cheers to you, Mario

Hey wow that 1959 Pontiac is a Canadian Pontiac. American 59 Pontiacs only came with the 389 V-8. The Canadian Pontiac came base with the 261 in line six cylinder, the 283 Chev V-8 and 348 Chev V-8 was offered at extra cost. All our Canadian Pontiacs were based on the Chevrolet platform. Mario, did you get any info on that car. Cheers.

Thanks for clearing that up for me George. I thought it strange to see a 59 Pontiac especially a convertible with a 6 cyl engine. The one I owned was a 389 V8 and I never saw one with a 6. Funny how the Canadian Pontiac made it's way to NY.

I didn't get to see the owner. Many just park their cars and stroll around to see other cars. They all like taking pictures too or go for a beer and buy snacks. If I see that car again I'll look for the owner.

That's a lot of Chevy engine choices you offered in Canada on the 59. But as you said it was based on the Chevy platform. Cheers to you, Mario
