LeMay Auto Museum, Tacoma, WA Part 1 1906 to 1954.

HAROLD LEMAY (1919 to 2000) was the owner of Lemay Enterprises, a refuse company in the Tacoma, WA metro area. Harold became the owner of one of the largest private auto collections in the world at the time of his death in the year 2000.

LeMay amassed the largest privately owned collection of automobiles, motorcycles and trucks in the world. At its peak, the LeMay Collection numbered in excess of 3,500 vehicles in 53 locations across Tacoma, WA.

LeMay didn't want his collection broken up and sold off after his death. His family remembered and the LeMay-America's Car Museum was born. LeMay's wife Nancy and son Doug are both active members of the Tacoma community. They also share his passion for car collecting and have continued it after his death.

OK no more Concept Cars, for now anyway.

Here's a 2 part Tribute to the World Record Auto Collection of the LeMay Family's Auto Museum in Tacoma, WA. Can you imagine over 3000 Collector Cars?

Just think of this as a huge car show in 2 parts and enjoy, Mario.

Well this is like a breath of fresh spring air Mario, which we hope gets here early. How can one amass all these cars? It's rhetorical. I bet this was fun for you to create, and I like a free tour of a classic car museum. And it doesn't close. I've been back 3 times and didn't need a hand stamp to get back in. I like strolling through with no crowds.

Excellent work Mario......can't wait for PART DOS!

It is incredible to amass over 3000 collector cars but that's what Harold LeMay did in his lifetime.

I am happy to hear his family took over after his passing in 2000.

So many great historical cars in his collection and I would love to spend a week in his museum.

Part 2 starts with 1955 to present which is my favorite years so stay tuned for my next post.

The Lincoln Zephyr was a beautiful updated Ford car in its day and the custom job in the museum is outrageous!

Good eye Rob and I agree the layback windshield is amazing. Thank you for your comments, Mario

Awesome page, Mario! I like how you tell the story throughout the photos. I love the 36 Ford Roadster with the beautiful forest view behind it. Really cool to see a 37 Chrysler Airflow. I also love the 40 Lincoln Zephyr. And the 48 Tucker! Interesting observation you made about the 51 Studebaker being inspired by it - I can see that! Thanks for the great page!

Thank you Brandon for your comments and excellent feedback. I try to make the Page not just about the photos but also tell a story to help inform the reader. Glad you picked up on that.

Wait until you see my Part 2 Page of the LeMay Auto Museum. The cars are from 1955 and up, my favorite years.

LeMay has a first year 64 GTO and like you a 66 GTO. Enjoy! Mario
