In July 1928 Chrysler launched Plymouth one of the first engineered brands to compete directly with low priced Fords and Chevys.
In 1955 Chrysler executive Virgil Exner introduced the Forward Look giving sales a much-needed boost. Longer, lower, wider, it was a sensation and sales zoomed up 52% over 1954.
On January 24, 1957 a Plymouth Belvedere rolled off the assembly line marking the 10 Millionth Plymouth ever produced. The 1957 Forward Look cars ran with the marketing tagline “Suddenly it’s 1960!” In the winter of 1957 a new Plymouth Savoy was hot rodded in the course of two busy weeks with a race-built 389-cubic-inch Hemi and custom Hedman Hedders. It was ready for the NASCAR Speedweek. The engine made 448 hp on alcohol.
The Special 1957 Plymouth Set a Top-Speed Record at NASCAR and the official record average was 159.893 mph.
On June 28, 2001 the last Plymouth was built, a silver Neon LX and the Plymouth line was discontinued. This is my tribute to Plymouth. Mario.

The 1957 Plymouth is a special car for me as I was just 10 years old when it came out and our good Family friend Father Belbar from our parish church had one.
He used to visit us in my grandparents home in Jamaica, Queens NYC. He knew I liked cars and he offered me a ride in his new 1957 Plymouth.
I was thrilled and went for a ride in the front seat with him in his 1957 Plymouth and remember to this day how kind he was to me and how great the car was.
Father Belbar has passed away many years ago but I will always remember him when I see a 1957 Plymouth, the 10 Millionth Plymouth built!
