Pontiac's First Muscle Car

Dual Quad Poncho

At the 2009 POCI meet after 30 years in storage some brake work and 1400 miles of fun to the "run". Of two hundred odd built less than a dozen remain.

316 Cubic inch 285 Horsepower Strato Streak V8

Without the fat boy, me

Even High Performance Pontiac took its picture...they just didn't know what it was

The dash...

Really after sitting for 30 years it was not all that horrible, underhood..... the outside and the GLASS was entirely another issue

The big generator pulley coupled to the prompt upshifts of the hydramatic left the battery constantly undercharged. The original owner brought it in to be repaired. I said I could fix it for free....just sell it to me! YAY! He did the summer of 1975....I am the second owner.

Clipped from a dealer option book......woo hoo pretty spendy ponies......

My first car was one of these rare Ponchos. Bought it used in 1958. Had no idea back than just how rare it was. Chevy had a dual quad 270 h.p. am I remembering right that the Pontiac was 280? That car suprised a lot of other racers. Mine was a stick, did they build any with automatic? Thanks for the memories. Mike Cassidy

What a great looking 56 Pontiac you have Jeff. It was surely Pontiac's first muscle car with lots of HP and a hot V8. Dual quads are a real surprise. Mario
