"Sleepwalk"

Fairlane 500 'Towne Victoria'

Engine: 429 cu in Ford Trans: C6 Rear end: 9" Paint: Raven Black, Mocha Frost, and Russet Pearl Ghost Flames. Features: Frenched headlights, shaved, tube grill, functional Lake Pipes, custom interior, cruise control, 12 CD Changer, DVD Player, and Kicker Amp, R&P with front disc brakes, wide white radials are fitted with smoothies, baby moons and rings.

Edlebrock high rise, and big carb along with a mild cam help this "heavy" get down the road. The AC keeps the summers cool. Recent changes include a holley 750 dual feed, aluminum radiator with both pusher and puller. Driving at highway speeds is like riding on a cloud - smooth.....

Towne Victoria was Ford's designator for the 4 door hardtop. Notice the absence of the B pillar, and the addition of the wide stainless steel strip running the length of the drip rail.

Keyless entry with door poppers on dash control front and rear doors. The shaved handles make it hard to tell you're actually looking at a 4 door hardtop! Trunk is also shaved and access is by hidden trunk release.

Stereo CD Changer, and DVD are remoted to the cabin, and the trunk is upholstered to match interior. Continental Kit is factory add on. Car was assembled in Dallas, and delivered to Fred Jones Ford showroom in Oklahoma City in October, 1957. I am the second owner, and purchased the car in the summer of 1975.

Beauty, I always liked the 57, we had a black '56 2-dr hardtop with the 312 cube, it was hot and pretty.

Lovely 57, it is one of my dream cars. You did a nice job. Are the headlight rim Hagan or 56 Ford truck? My 51 truck is in the 50s section... Mel

Hi Mel, yup, they are Hagen Buckets. As you know, by removing the outer ring, and frenching the lights, it didn't quite look right, so I extended the eyebrows 2". By the way, I like your 51. Very subtle! I'm looking for a '49 F1, know anybody? Thanks, John

Hi John, I am going with 56 rims. You have a good eye for what looks good. My motto is, it should look like the factory did it! It's a small world, because, my truck came from Texas, all the way to Ontario, Can. I know only one friend with a 52 F2 project here c/w (larger fender openings) and it's chopped 2", Pontiac subframe, 350,350,good box, lowered, custom dash insert (all professionally done. I don't know if he would sell. If you are interested, I'll send him a note.

Heading for a winter in Fla in a week. Check you later, Mel

Hope you enjoyed Florida Mel. By the way, how close are you to BC, and do you ever get to the big event in Puyallup, WA at the end of July? Not interested in the 52, the 49 F-1 would be a father-daughter project. Anyway, I'll be talkin' with you soon! John

Hi John, better late than never, right? Ontario is across Lake Ontario from New York state. I am an 1 hrs drive from Buffalo and 1.5 from Rochester, NY. I get to Alberta every two years to visit family. I have to rent a car so to visit BC is close but expensive. Good to hear from you, Mel

Hey John, don't know if you'll get thia response when the last was 2013. I was admiring your car again. I didn't tell you but when I was 17 in 57 I was delivering new 57 fords from Ont to NS 1500 mi, by driving one and towing one by tow bar.

Once I fell asleep and woke up with both cars on the dirt shoulder. No damage so I took a nap. Mel
