I've looked at all the Mercury models online and can't find any that match the trim. I think it is probably a 54 Ford Customline. If there are Mercury models with this type of side trim, please let me know.

1954 Ford -- Take a tour of Jim's 1945 Ford museum. Several of these cars have the same look and the side trim is the same.

This is a 54 Ford Customline. My Dad had a 52 Ford Customline. Tail lights from side have markings going around chrome. Front blinkers wrap around side unique to 54.

Having owned a '53 two door ford I know this isn't a 53 Ford. I agree with those who ID it as a 54 Customline Ford.
