I like the bumper guard thingy he put on that '52 Ford. I don't think I've seen one of those before.
[Reply to this comment]Mario on May 6, 2015 said:
Thanks Dave. The 52 Ford was always my Dad's favorite car of all the ones he had. I guess because it was his first New car that it meant so much. He didn't like having to trade it in for the 59 Chevy wagon but he needed the wagon for his job. He used to install storm windows and doors and got paid extra for using his car. Mario

Absolutely like taking a walk through the past. Love the kids in the snow and I see you're even willing to admit 2 Chevettes in the family album. Most owners won't admit to owning one Chevette let alone two. Great photos and great memories for you which bring back great memories for me. My grandmother in the ripe old age of 55 bought a 1968 Impala, BRIGHT YELLOW!! Wonderful memories tied to cars. One of my favorites is sliding across the vinyl backseat as my aunt would take me around hairpin turns. Not the safest or smartest things to do but giggling until my sides hurt...............PRICELESS. Now it would be a fine and jail time for my aunt.

Thanks Rob. I had to sell my 69 Camaro SS 350 that I had for 10 years to buy the 79 Chevette. That really hurt but it was because of the oil embargo and gas prices shot up. Wish I still had my Camaro!

Don't feel badly, I traded my 1969 Olds 442 AND my wife's 1968 Mercury Cougar XR7 in to get a Chevy Camaro with a 6 and 3 speed with no options. A guy had to do what a guy had to do to get to work, put food on the table, pay the bills and maybe have enough to buy studded snow tires come winter!!!!

Wow, what a great tribute Mario. Like you haven't heard that enough, it can never be stated enough. I wish I had a family and memories I could show like this. Sadly my home was broken to pieces as a kid. But here I am at age 70 so God must have some use for me.
Even the Chevettes I see made the post. We all can consider ourselves lucky for we all have different blessings in our lives in many different ways.
Count your blessings daily. Thanks again Mario for the ride down memory lane with your family.

Oh and you do look dapper in those suits. I hope you grew into them over time. My first suit was a law suit...........just kidding. I got a Davey Crockett coonskin cap to wear and many neighbors thought it was just a bad haircut. A mullet before it's time. My first suit was to get married in 1971. Sold my deer rifle to buy the suit. I should have kept the gun, it would have lasted longer than the suit and the marriage!!
Smile. We share cars and photos and family, why not a smile or a laugh????? You're blessed Mario.

That was my first suit at age 7. 2 sizes too big! I had a Davy Crockett cap too. Wore it every day until it fell apart. I think my Mom finally washed it and that's when it started getting frayed. But I wore it anyway. Mario

Family and their cars and cars and their family always seem to be intertwined. I can not help but feel sadness for folks that never had a car in their family growing up. All of the wonderful cars my folks had when I was growing up, will be with me until I die. Mario, thanks for sharing all these wonderful memories. Cheers.

Added a picture of my Dad's rare 1963 Impala station wagon with an inline 6 cyl engine.
Out of 832,600 1963 Impalas sold, 735,900 had V-8 engines and only 96,700 had 6 cyl engines.

Well thank you Rob. I'm glad you approve of my coloring talent and staying in the lines! It's not as easy as it seems.
Yes growing up in Jamaica NYC I was a Junior Mob Boss on my city block. I had it all back then.
For a certain amount of candy each week the kids got "protection" from me. The Suit and Hat made all the difference!
I also ran a Lost and Found Tricycle business. Very profitable. But I had to give it all up when my parents decided to move out of the City and buy a house on Long Island.
There went my proprietorship. Cheers, Mario
