OUCH!!! That Studebaker President Speedster's yellow interior really pops.
Nice to see a variety of different cars from different manufacturers.
As I watch the movie: "The Invasion of the Body Snatchers, I see a nice 1955 Olds 88 Two Tone convertible. I like that movie because you get to see a lot of vintage cars in it. I'm sure mostly the town folk where it was filmed used their cars.
Nice thread, and we expect nothing less from you. Thumbs up!!

Thanks Rob. 1955 was the best year for car sales in the Fifties. And no wonder so many really great looking cars.
We unfortunately lost many car manufacturers in the Fifties like Packard, Studebaker, Nash, Hudson, etc. But GM was King and Ford right behind with Chrysler in 3rd.
Cheers!

No denying 1955 was one of the greatest years in automotive history, not only for production but also for style and pizzazz. A number of milestone cars came out that year and I can not help being partial to the Chevrolet. It was not until 1965 that automotive production beat the banner year of 1955. Mario, another good one my gear head brother. Cheers.

Thank you George my Gearhead brother and I agree 1955 was a banner year for many fine new cars. I too am a GM Chevy guy and the 1955 Chevy is such a classy great looking car. So many of my friends had one and I enjoy seeing one at Car Shows. We lived thru a wonderful era and the Car Shows and the Vintage cars bring back so many good memories and good times. Cheers!

As far as Chevrolet anyway, 1955 was the highest production year of the tri five Chevy's. All three years did very well but the 1955 was the banner year. Cheers.

I had a 1955 Chevrolet 210 (Delray club coupe) back in 1978-1980. The Delray club coupe was a very rare model and many people today do not know of it. From the outside it looked just like a 210 coupe but on the inside it was totally different. The interior was all vinyl and two toned in color.

As far as I concerned the 1955 Chevrolet is the best looking 1955 automobile, period and I will take that to my death bed. Cheers.

1955 was a Great year for cars. GM led the pack with fresh ideas and the Chevrolet led GM. Don't forget the new OHV V8 also. As far a looks I agree it was clean and simple but elegant with the Ferrari grill.

In 1955 the most popular car was the Chevy Bel Air with the highest in total sales. The Bel Air also won the coveted Motor Trend Car of the Year award for new chassis and modern suspension which helped it earn "Best Handling" and "Most Roadable". Its all new 265ci OHV V8 with a Powerglide two-speed automatic made it capable of zipping from 0 to 60 mph in a quick 12.3 seconds.
In 1955 we were overwhelmed with all the new power options being offered by the new car models. Most cars were now powered with a 12 Volt battery system replacing the old 6 Volt system to allow for the power options.
Sleek new designs, such technology as reliable automatic transmissions, overhead valve V-8s (including Chryslers Hemi), wrap-around windshields, air conditioning and modern suspensions; power steering and power brakes. Power steering and automatic transmissions were in more than 50 percent of new models.
In 1955 Americans were in a buying mood when it came to cars. In fact, the 8,338,302 cars sold in 1955 were the high point of the 1950s.
This is my Tribute to the Best of the American Cars in 1955! Enjoy, Mario
