Mario, another great topic. As far as I am concerned the 1955 Chevrolet is the ultimate automotive icon, bar none. No other car has made as great an impact to this day. This car brought Chevrolet to even far greater greatness. The 265 V-8 was a ground breaking engine on so many levels and is still with us today. How many other cars and engines can make that claim today, I venture a guess that there is no other. The car was beautiful from any and all angles then and still is today. All hail the 1955 Chevrolet, few cars should be so lucky. I am proud to say I had one, a 1955 210 (Del Ray club coupe). From 1978 to 1980. Cheers.

Yes George if I had to pick One car that made the biggest impact in our Automobile History I would surely pick the 1955 Chevy. It was simple yet classy in form, well optioned with the newest and best small block engine ever made. The First of the Tri-Fives and in my opinion the Best.
I never got to own one but many of my friends have and I would have a hard time picking one of the many two tone color combos that it came in!

The all-new 1955 Chevrolet! The Bel Air received new, revamped styling in 1955. It was called the "Hot One" in GM's advertising campaign.
For 1955 Chevrolets gained a new V8 engine option. The 265ci V8 featured a modern, overhead valve, high compression ratio, short stroke design. It was so good it remained in production in various displacements for many decades.
The base V8 had a two-barrel carburetor and was rated at 162hp. The Power Pack option featured a four-barrel carburetor, dual exhausts, yielding 180hp. The 50 Millionth General Motors car built was a 1955 Chevy Bel Air and celebrated with a Gold-Plated addition at the 1955 GM Motorama.
The 1955 Chevy was the Official Pace Car for the Indy 500 race on May 30, 1955, and was the First year of the famous Tri Five Chevy’s (55-57). It was also the Motor Trend Car of the Year for 1955.
