Mario's Milleridge Inn Car Show July 11, 2024

1957 Chevy Bel Air Red and White

My second Car Show for this week was at the Historical Milleridge Inn, Jericho NY.

The Milleridge Inn Restaurant is one of the oldest continuously operated establishments in the US. It was built in 1672 when Long Island was populated by the Dutch. My wife and I have dined there many times, and the food is authentic old-fashioned recipes handed down over the years.

The Milleridge Inn hosts a Car Show in the summer on Thursdays complete with a Band and have indoor and outdoor dining if desired.

They have a huge parking lot where all the cars are shown. There is also a Milleridge Village with many shops and a catering hall for weddings and parties.

Enjoy the show! Mario

My second car show for this week and it was awesome! One of my favorite restaurants established in 1672 The Milleridge Inn in Jericho, NY held a Car Show on Thursday July 11, 2024.

Many great Classic cars were there along with a talented band playing our wonderful Oldies while we dined in the indoor and outdoor restaurant.

Enjoy the show! Mario

Here we go again having to decide which vintage vehicles I will keep and leave you good folks to fight amongst yourselves for the rest. I will take the 1955 Chev Cameo Carrier (has 55 wheel covers on it), 1960 Chev Impala sport coupe, 1963 Chev Vette and 1964 Chev Vette. Hopefully there will not be too much infighting to divy up the remainder of the fine vintage tin here. Cheers.

OK so you picked 4 cars George that's fine since you got first dibs! All great choices I might add. There is still enough to go around. We'll have to wait and see what Rob picks.

Hope you have some car shows to go to this weekend so we can pick some of your cars. Have a good one and Cheers! Mario

Well first Mario, thank you for the Nova pics.

Since Geo got first dibs, I guess I will take the Tonka Truck just as a unique vehicle. It also reminds me of all the years I spent delivering for FedEx out of one of those. Of late I have been choosing the odd ones.

Then my friend Glenn had a 1970 Trans Am Javelin with the Mark Donahue spoiler and all. His was green. I liked it but it got beat most times by the other muscle cars that congregated at the bowling alley.

The bowling alley parking lot resembled a used Muscle Car Sale Lot. Everything from C1 Corvettes to Chevelle SS to Road Runners to Buick GS and of course my friends Javelin and Mustangs and Novas and GTOs. That isn't a smidge of the cars assembled there on nights on the men's bowling league.

After bowling we would all leave the bowling alley with the usual burnouts, WHILE ON THE BOWLING ALLEY'S PARKING LOT MIND YOU. The police station was just across the street so they sat in cars just waiting for us to do that on the road.

You can't fool us, we're too stupid.

We'd gently pull out of the lot and head to the truck stop for food then. The best food USED to be found at truck stops. Not anymore. My years of OTR I can vouch for that, sadly may I add.

After our midnight meal we would head back to the bowling alley for some POT Bowling. No not as in weed, as in money. $2 in the pot, winner take all. High game took the proceeds. The owner charged us 35 cents a game which help minimize our costs to play.

Oh it was a great time. Bowling alleys have closed left and right across the US. Sad to see a fun healthy hobby go by the wayside.

But this is about cars and so as my 3rd and final choice, I shall select that 74 Grand AM. I never considered it a muscle car but in it's own right Pontiac did all they could to try to keep us interested in the hobby.

So, that's my story and choices and thus it's time to say Thank You Mario for another entertaining thread.

I was going to pick the 64 Corvette as a favorite since it was the best car I ever owned but George beat me to it. I miss it greatly but the Nova is slowly becoming my new favorite. It's very hard to hate 496 CUBIC INCHES.

As Geo says: Cheers gentlemen and ladies. Rob

Hi Rob you only picked 3 and since George got to pick 4 you get to have another one. There are actually 2 1964 Vettes and George got one. There is a blue convertible and a red coupe.

Yes we had bowling alleys too for hanging out although I wasn't much of a bowler. But it was a great place to go and meet up with friends. Burning out was always a must. We left a lot of rubber in their parking lots!

Our local Wetsons and McDonalds were good hangouts also. We always argued who had the better french fries and cheeseburgers! I liked Wetsons cheeseburgers and McDonalds french fries so I had to go to both! Those were crazy days but a lot of good fun.

Have a great weekend and hope you get to see a car show this year. They must have some indoor ones for you to see. Cheers to you, Mario

George got to pick 4 due to the difference in Canadian money and the American dollar.

Mario on Jul 13, 2024 said:

Well Rob I just checked today's monetary values and $1 US is equal to $1.36 Canadian. Our dollar is worth 36% more. So if George picked 4 you get to pick 5 for the same value. You only picked 3, so go ahead and pick 2 more.
