Mario's Oyster Bay Car Show Aug 13, 2024

1970 Ford Maverick Shelby Gulf Oil Racing Car

The 11th weekly car show was held Tuesday Aug 13, 2024 on Main Street in our quaint town of Oyster Bay, NY.

A great day with Classic Cars and Hot Rods driving down Main Street, which again was closed to traffic for the car show.

A nice treat was seeing a 1970 Ford Maverick Shelby Gulf Oil Racing Car at the show.

All the local shops and restaurants were all open for us and an entertaining Rock Band was playing Oldies into the evening. Enjoy the show, Mario

Oh my stop the presses, pic #38, the WHITE WITH RED STRIPE C2. Winner winner Road Runner Dinner. That's what we say here in Arizona.

I see the Novas, thank you kindly. I didn't see the Cybertruck thank you doubly kindly.

I like your little rock and roll introduction.. very catchy.....the band rocked and the cars rolled in.

That 66 Impala SS would go nice beside the white Corvette, now to find a blue entry to complete my patriotic theme.

Okay who can resist the 57 blue and white Pontiac? Sorry Geo, I had to complete my collection.

SO keep the band rocking and keep your rides rolling to paraphrase a great thread developer.

Who's name will go down in AT infamy. I mean history........I won't mention the name but the initials are

M A R I O..................

Thank you Rob for your comments and quips, always interesting and welcomed.

The C2 White Vette with Red stripe was what drew my eye to Muscle Car Row. It just stood out bold and classic.

I'm always looking out for Novas because you asked. They're hard to find at these shows. The color Orange on the 73 is sure unique. Made me want to have a Creamsicle!

The 57 Pontiac Blue and White HT was a beauty. Very hard to find one in such great shape. I wanted to get more pictures but he left the show early. I was lucky to catch him leaving.

Besides the 70 Maverick race car that showed up, I liked the 54 Ford 2 door HT. First year Y Block 239ci. Same cubes as the Flathead but with a bigger bore and a shorter stroke producing 130hp as opposed to the Flathead's final 110hp.

My Dad's first new car was a 52 Ford Customline 2 door sedan in Blue with a Flathead V8. I helped him wash and polish that car every week.

Again thank you for your insights Rob, stay cool and have a Creamsicle. Mario

Here are my choices and I am sticking with them. The 1957 Pontiac Star Chief, 1962 Chev Impala, 1953 Kaiser, 1965 Chev Impala, 1962 Vette and 1969 Camaro. I know Rob wanted the 57 Pontiac but he can not have it because I am taking second dibs on it. I never knew that racing Maverick existed, is it real. Mario, some friendly corections no. 22 is a 1965 not a 1966 Chev Impala and no. 7 is a 1953 Kaiser but not a Henry J. The Henry J was a much smaller car. You are lucky to have such a great weekly event. Cheers.

All great choices George. I thought of you as soon as I saw the 57 Pontiac. I never saw it before and the car was immaculate. I loved the blue and white paint combo. You get full dibs on that car since you own a 57 Pontiac! The 57 Pontiac is one of my favorite year Pontiacs.

I figured you would like all the Chevy's since you are a true dedicated GM Chevy guy! They've always been my favorite car as well. I've owned several Chevys and loved them all.

The 1970 Ford Maverick Shelby Gulf Oil Racing Car was trailered in to the show by the Team and it's part of the Ford Gulf Oil Racing Team on tour. They're visiting car shows on Long Island to promote Gulf Oil and the Racing Team.

Yes I am lucky to have such a great weekly event. I can actually walk to Main St from where I live in Oyster Bay it's about 1/2 mile. But with the summer heat and humidity I choose to drive. I'm planning to visit this car show each week for the duration. Cheers to you my AT friend, Mario
