Mario's Oyster Bay Car Show Sep 3, 2024

1969 Camaro RS/SS

The 14th weekly car show was held Tuesday Sept 3, 2024 on Main Street in our historic town of Oyster Bay, NY founded in 1653 by Dutch settlers.

A fun-filled day with Hot Rods, Muscle Cars and Classic Cars driving down Main Street, again closed to traffic for the car show.

A great treat was viewing a Blue 1969 Camaro RS/SS with a Blown Chrome Engine.

As usual the local shops and restaurants were all open for us and a talented Rock Band was playing Oldies into the evening. Check out the video I added of Barry Mitchell’s Record Breaking ‘69 Camaro Z28 with a Blown 521ci Hemi. Exciting to see.

The Oyster Bay Brewing Company was open for refreshments, and I added a short video about them.

I also added a video on The Classic Cars of Mayberry, The Andy Griffith Show. Check it out just for fun.

Enjoy the show, Mario

Well good afternoon our good friend Mario....

I keep rolling over the pics and always get stuck on ONE.

Now since YOU posted it, YOU need to 'splain what it is.

You already know I'm going for the Sterling Gull Wing.

I know what sterling silver is, I know who Sterling Marlin is, and even Sterling Moss.

But please my thread bearing friend, enlighten me as to what a Sterling Gull Wing is. Yes I could Google it but I'd rather have the threads author try to explain it in car lovers terms.

I chose the 62 Corvette solely on it's color. It looks so rich in that satinish pewter/gold/silver.

The 69 Blown Chromed Camaro, is almost a tad over the top. Maybe a smidge. But I wouldn't kick it out of the garage on a rainy night. I also wouldn't want to detail that chromed monster.

So Mario, let the 'splainin begin on the Sterling Gull WIng........and now...herrrrrrrrrrrres Mario!

Hey Rob, here is a great link on the Sterling Gull wing for you to review.

https://bangshift.com/general-news/this-1967-sterling-is-seriously-off-of-the-beaten-path-but-is-it-cool-or-just-too-weird/

Check this out. A strange and rare car that showed up at our car show.

Did you look at the videos I posted? The Camaro is a wild one. And the Mayberry cars was nice. We also brew our own beer, can you get it in AZ?

I didn't get to watch the videos yet. Wifey forgot to get popcorn at store. You can't watch a video and NOT have popcorn. And Geo likes his with moo juice.

I saw the Andy Griffith video previously, but I may need to review it. I'll choose old stale popcorn for that video.

I am not a beer aficionado. Furthermore, I don't know one from another. Not only that, but I haven't drunk an alcoholic beer in ages. I was never a beer drinker. Maybe an ice-cold one after whipping some 10-year-old boys butt in tennis and giving him $20 to lose and make me look like a male Chrissy Everett.

I changed a lot of things I was doing back in 1989. But never lost the love of cars and Chrissy Everett, or Farrah Fawcett or …well you get my drift.

Mario I watched the Bang Shift video on the Sterling. I wonder how that slipped past my radar in 67. Maybe it was the girl I saw beside in 10th grade classes. Miniskirts were a real distraction back then, and my grades suffered tremendously.

Shame on me......oh don't even go there. You know you were the same way. Very odd car. I wasn't too impressed by it, even being limber and small enough to drive it.

I guess I'd throw it in the KIT KAR Kategory... Okay for some, but not for me. Now back to that girl in 10th grade........where was I?????

Oh, you may see some pics of cars at shows, but you won't see any pics of me. I have been binge-watching the old movie series of the Invisible Man from back in our hay days... I think I know how he does it. Don't tell....

It is still 100 today....maybe next month.

Don't worry Rob pictures of cars at the shows is good enough for me. I'm curious what cars you have in AZ car shows.

I guess you probably have car shows throughout the fall and winter months when the temps go down. That will satisfy me and George until Spring.

It gets lonely and depressing here in NY and Canada in those months and we're counting on you to keep us going. OK? Cheers to you my friend.
