So if you guys like pictures, I will give you a ton that show the entire process of bringing this girl bacl to life. It was an awesome journey. I will post at least one a day. Enjoy. This is the first day I brought her home from being packed in a field in the foothills of California. THe car was originally from Colordo as you will see from the cancer I had to repair.
THis is the engine after machining. It was like Christmas in July.

Your Packard just ozzes class. My dad put the same bird ornament on a 57 Pontiac he had from 1959 to 1970. I will never forget that Packard bird to the point that, I might just add one to my 57 Pontiac. Tell us more about that sweet Packard of yours. Cheers.

Tim, when did Packard start putting a Carter four barrel carb on the old flat head in line eight. I know it was just before the Packard V-8 came out. Cheers.

Hello Mr. 57timemachine,
As far a I know Packard never came out with a 4 BBL carb for the stright 8 Thunderbolt engine as a factory application. I know that alot of guys have done this on thier own and Edelbrock has a manifold to accomidate this for the stright 8 288 and 327.

They did it to try and compete with the luxury makes that had a V-8. I think it might have been around 1954 before the Packard V-8 came out in 1955. Cheers.
